Sound and ceramics are not synonymous but it is surprising that 
a new world of sound is encountered when you shape and fire clay. 
I get instant delight in creating this new dimension to the ceramic 
art form. My nephew (Martin Smith) who is a musician saw the 
potential for these novel percussive pieces and has used them in
